SFX data problemsA message from Rick Schulz and Joyce Bell:E-support has recently received several problem reports concerning inaccurate or outdated data in SFX/PULinks. Please be aware that for a handful of especially large e-journal and e-book packages we do not locally verify title and holdings information; we rely instead on monthly updates from ExLibris for this frequently-changing data. If we make manual updates to this data, it invalidates our ability to use the global update information provided by ExLibris, and we could not possibly keep up with ongoing changes without this critical part of our SFX service package. For this reason, we are not always able to correct errors that are pointed out immediately, but instead will wait for the correction to appear in the monthly update. We expect that these errors will be relatively few, and only temporary. Note, however, that we do in fact check on whether or not errors reported get fixed in the expected time-frame and do report them to Ex Libris and the vendor when they are not fixed. The packages currently included in this category are: Books 24x7Ebsco Academic Search Premier Factiva IEEE Xplore Conference Proceedings Knovel Lexis-Nexis Academic Univ FullText Proquest ABI Inform Global Proquest Research Library Wilson Omnifile FullTest Mega Do please continue to report all problems via e-support@princeton.edu, so that we can be aware of major problems and trends that may develop and report them promptly to ExLibris.
