A viewing of the history of France in 5 parts. Directed by Mr. Andreani. The city was besieged by Edward III of England. All of the attacks were vigorously repelled. Calais then went to the Governor, who was a valliant cavalier named Jean de Vienne. Besieged for 10 months, the citizens were reduced to famine. Jean de Vienne sent a messenger to the King of France to ask for assistance. The messenger managed to pass through the English troops. The hope of a forthcoming grant supported the Calaisians in their heroic resistance. See more on Number 2.
