Other works in the exhibition:
- Santa Teresa; an Appreciation . . . by Alexander Whyte.
Edinburgh: Oliphant, Anderson & Ferrier, 1897.
Bound by an unidentified
member of the Guild of Women Binders, possibly Annie MacDonald,
who produced at least fifty known bindings
in this "medieval" revival style. The pale brown
goatskin is blocked in blind on both sides, with a relief image
of Saint Teresa
on the front cover, and a heart pierced with an arrow and surrounded
by tongues of fire on the back. In contrast to the chaste exterior
binding, the luxurious interior features green moiré doublures,
and gilt decorated turn-ins and hinges.
